 How Critter Care was born..............

About 6 years ago I began to get the itch to leave corporate America and get back to my roots.  As most of us do, I was aiming to hang in until 50, take an early retirement and then try and figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Since I couldn’t justify leaving a great paying job, the security and benefits it afforded me I decide to begin creating the life I would eventually live full time.  So I bought a pick-up, a place with a couple of acres and a couple of mares yet to be gentled.

Of course never bein’ a woman who ever gets enough J) I had done such a good job at creating a lifestyle that I thoroughly loved nothing would suit me but to get the heck outa So California and get back to Texas.  Against all the Nay Sayers I quit my job, sold my place, loaded up the horse trailer and headed for Texas .

I have always had a love of animals and many times found myself more comfortable around the 4 legged critters verses the 2 legged ones J)  Their unconditional love and acceptance, and their natural curiosity have always amazed and inspired me.  Through a process outlined in a book called, “Now What, by Laura Berman Fortgang”, Critter Care was conceived.

Currently I have two horses of my own, Layne and Bailey.  I also have two kitties, Charli  and The Fat Man.  If you see me around town chances are you will meet Molly, my Pit-bull.  I am in the process of expanding the services Critter Care will offer to include a horse boarding facility.  I intend to add a couple of kennels to provide an option for folks who aren’t set up to leave their dogs unattended.

On a more personal note I began the Parelli Natural Horsemanship Program last spring.  Having always had a deep belief in the importance of allowing animals to maintain their dignity I have now found a way to partner up with my horses.  It is my hope to one day add colt starting to the many services offered by Critter Care.

When I left So California my plan was to set-up a little bookkeeping business, find me a cowboy and ride off into the sunset.  What is that they say, “If you want a good laugh just tell God your plans”?  Anything is possible.  It was not even a consideration to have such a fulfilling career, thus caring for animals.  I have experienced many sunsets, of which there is nothing to compare as the ones we have here in Texas .  And I’m still lookin’ for my cowboy J)

In closing, thank you so much for visiting the Critter Care web site.  Your feedback is greatly appreciated.  And if we can help make your trip away from home a more pleasant experience please give us a call.
